Lions Hold Convention

On Feb. 1, 2014 the Lions from District 31 F, Southeastern North Carolina held its annual mid-winter convention at the Hampton Inn & ?Suites at Aberdeen.  There were 102 registered Lions in attendance. There were several informative and educational sessions during the day long conference.  Mr. Gary Faircloth, CEO of the Boys and Girls Home at Lake Waccamaw talked to the attendees about the Boys and Girls Home and how it changed his life.  Mr. Faircloth was a student at the Home many years ago and he credits the Boys and Girls Home for changing his life and now he has risen to the CEO of the Home.

A session was also devoted to telling the Lions about the new service project that the Lions of North Carolina is undertaking, that being an increased focus on diabetes with a special focus on providing a peer support group to help diabetics keep the disease under control.  The Lions are working with Dr. Rich Davis from the University of North Carolina on this initiative.

District 31F also elected new officers for the 2014-2015 year which begins in July of 2014.  The first picture shows from left to right Rena Shedrick-Marshall, 1st Vice District Governor Elect, 2nd Vice District Governor Elect, James Kiser, and District Governor Elect Lynn McCaskill.
