Hubert has been selected for the September 14, 2011, Flight of Honor. He will be joining 100 other World War II Veterans on a flight to Washington, D.C. to visit the World War II Memorial and other sites in Washington, D. C. It is a one day trip. Hubert’s friends and relatives are invited to be at RDU when he returns. There will be a large welcoming celebration which begins at 7:15 p. m. in the RDU Parking Garage Atrium. There will be food, drinks and entertainment. Please bring flags, banners and posters to welcome him back.
Friends and relatives are requested to write letters or notes to thank Hubert for his service. These are required by September

Enlisted: September 28, 1939; Discharged: July 20, 1945; 660 Fighting Days; Overseas 37 months. 17th Field Artillery Battalion; Howitzer Gunner. Fought in the following major campaigns: Tunisia, North Africa; Sicily; Naples-Foggia; Rome-Arno; Southern France; Rhineland; Central Europe.
