“During the month of August the Rockingham chose to participate in the Global Service Action Campaign, “Engaging our Youth” by getting with some of the members children and got them thinking about what they could do. First the club collected children’s books to donated to the local library. Then Benjamin Ewing, the 8 year old son of the club’s president, decided they could paint pictures for people. At the club’s annual Family and Friends Fun Night a table was set up for all children and teens in attendance to participate in the project by painting pictures that were then placed in frames and delivered to local nursing homes to be placed in the rooms of patients that do not have children visiting them or sending them pictures to brighten their day. In total twenty pictures were delivered to the community’s elderly.”
The picture below is of the books collected and donated to the library. From left to right is Children’s Librarian “Miss Debbie”, Lion Cub Benjamin Ewing, and Lion Cub Nicholas Ewing. (not pictured but present is the littlest of our Lion Cubs, Ty Cook.
