Fellow Zone 2 Lions,
Zone 2 of District 31-F has worked together during the past year to complete a number of group service projects, namely the Habitat House in Dunn and the recent SAFE Concert at Campbell University. The Western Harnett Lions Club would like to propose another service project that fits in directly with DG Buchter’s goal to plant 1000 trees within 31-F. We have been working with Gary Pierce, the Extension Agent for Harnett County, and have together developed a project that involves reforesting a 31/2 acre parcel of land with 700 cypress trees in a rural area of the county near Erwin. The land belongs to a small local church and they are very grateful to have us take on this project.
If your club would like to help fund the project any donations to help purchase the trees would be most welcome. In addition we need Lion Power! If any member of your club would like to participate in the planting of the trees we would like you to join us.
The total cost of the tree seedlings is approximately $300 and the project is planned for February 27 with a rain date of February 29. We are planning to meet on site at 10 am. Dress should be appropriate for the weather (including boots) and if you have a spade or shovel bring it along.
We look forward to serving with you. For further information and the exact location please contact me or Vince Schimmoller at 498-9189.
