Volunteer Week at Camp Dogwwod

Volunteer week is scheduled for April 22-26, 2012. Projects include painting; carpentry work; electrical work; sorting glasses; general repairs and general clean up. District Volunteer Chairpersons have a complete list of projects. Check in will begin Sunday afternoon at 3:00 p.m. and our first meal will be dinner at 6:00 p.m. We will have a meeting following dinner to discuss the projects and divide into teams for the projects. Our last meal will be breakfast on Thursday. This is subject to change if the work is finished sooner. Mealtimes during the week will be breakfast at 7:30 a.m., lunch at 12:00 noon, and dinner at 6:00 p.m.

You may make copies of the enclosed reservation form as needed. Each Lion should complete the form and return it to rich Davis to make his/her reservation to help during the Spring Clean-Up Week. If Lions are not staying overnight, we still need the completed form with name, club, district and which meals he/she will be eating so that we can prepare properly. Due to the number of activities being held at Camp Dogwood the weekend prior to clean-up week, early check-ins will not be available for Lions not involved in the training or budget sessions.

Please contact your District Volunteer Chairperson if you have any questions. There is a limited supply of tools at Camp, so volunteers may want to bring tools with them. I look forward to seeing everyone in April for a week of work, fun, and fellowship.

Camp Dogwood is looking for volunteers for summer camp. Volunteering for a week at camp can be one of the most rewarding experiences of your summer. Volunteers are needed to help our campers. You can make a difference in the lives of the blind and visually impaired across the state. We hope you will join us for another great summer at Camp Dogwood. There is no charge for this wonderful opportunity to serve and have fun at the same time. Camp runs weekly between June 3rd and August 11th. If you are interested in volunteering during Summer Camp, please contact Camp Director Susan King at 800-662-7401, ext. 229, or at susan@nclionsinc.org. You may want to visit the camp website at http://www.nclionscampdogwood.com
