The Knights For The Blind Charitable Trust.

Are you aware that there is a group of District 31-F Lions, representing multiple clubs in our district, that have formed a private, independent, philanthropic association? Are you aware that the goal of this group is to provide financial assistance grants to blind or visually impaired persons whose needs cannot be readily met at the club level? Are you aware that this group also assists Lions clubs who need help with expenses associated with services to blind or visually impaired persons? This group formed a Trust, formally known as The Knights For the Blind Charitable Trust, which was specifically formed to assist 31-F clubs help VIPS in our district. All grant applications for assistance should come directly through the Lions Clubs in 31-F.

The Trust at this time has 31 members. We only meet 4 times a year because we do a lot of communication by e-mail. Every member of the trust has input and a vote in whether we approve an application or not. Membership fees are $500.00 for the first year and then $300.00 thereafter per year. Other than basic office/printing supplies, all funds are used to assist the VIPS; no one is paid for serving as a member or officer in the Trust. Our goal is to reach a membership of fifty members or more; then we would have a sufficient amount of funding upon which we could base our yearly grants. As you can see our members are dedicated Lions who believe in going the extra mile for our district and have a deep belief in being able to create small miracles – one at a time for our blind and visually impaired friends. Even though last year was the initial formation of the Trust, I am very proud to say that we were able to pay all expenses for one lady to have cataract surgery. The request and application came directly from one of our clubs in District 31-F.

Many times there is a need that is greater than any one club can handle. The Trust can hopefully help fill that need. Why not consider joining us in The Knights For The Blind Charitable Trust. If you have any questions, please email PDG Dan Boudreau at In addition, District Governor Denny Buchter will be happy to help you.
