General Membership Meeting May 6th

The Annual General Membership Meeting of North Carolina Lions, Inc. will be held on Sunday, May 6 at Camp Dogwood. The meeting is scheduled to start at 12 p.m. At the meeting, which will follow the quarterly meeting of the board of directors, delegates will vote for candidates for the 2012-2013 Executive Board. The following Lions have been nominated for office in uncontested races: Past District Governor G. Steve Wilson, president; Past District Governor G. Dale Dupree, 1st vice president; Past District Governor Mike Flora, 2nd vice president; and Lion Anne Metts, secretary. The only contested race is for the office of treasurer. Lion Carolyn Sprinkle has been nominated to retain her position on the board. Past District Governor Marti Hill is vying for the same office. According to the Bylaws, nominations can be made from the floor prior to the vote. Any Lion can attend the annual meeting, but only certified delegates will be permitted to vote. Each club is entitled to one voting delegate and one alternate for each 10 members or major fraction thereof. Club membership is based upon their active membership as reported by Lions Clubs International as of Aug. 1, 2011. Life members prior to March 4, 1985, and past presidents of North Carolina Lions, Inc. – formerly the North Carolina Lions Foundation – are also eligible to vote. Members of the board of directors cannot vote unless certified as a delegate from their respective club. Clubs have been mailed copies of the voting delegate form, which should be signed by the secretary or president and returned to North Carolina Lions, Inc. no later than April 27th.
