The Lillington Lions Club recently awarded Dr. Valerie Colborn the Stickley Fellow for her dedicated humanitarian service to the community.
Dr. Valerie Colborn graduated from University of Dayton (BS 1987) and The Ohio State University (OD 1991) and came to North Carolina in 1991 while serving as a captain in the Army. Her three years working as an optometrist at Womack Army Medical Center provided invaluable experience in patient care, including specialty contact lens fitting. Today Dr. Colborn’s practice is largely primary care optometry with a special interest in “hard-to-fit” contact lens patients. This includes fittings for patients with irregular astigmatism and post-surgical corneas. Away from the office she enjoys golf, softball, and spending time with her family. “As a Doctor of Optometry, part of my commitment to my patients is ongoing professional education. As technology and the world around us changes, I have to keep up-to-date, because I have to provide the best care possible for your eyes.”
