Christmas is past and I hope that everyone had a joyous and happy time with family. District 31 F had a good 6 months with many noteworthy activities. The New Year will soon be upon us and we as Lions have much to look forward to for the upcoming year. First on the calendar is the District 31F convention on Feb. 2 at the Hampton Inn & Suites in Southern Pines. District Governor Randy Kirby would like to see as many of you there to share in the great activities that we have planned for the day. We will start the day with registration and a continental breakfast beginning at 9 am. A Cabinet meeting followed by a general membership meeting will begin at 10 am. There will be an election of District Governor and 1st and 2nd Vice District Governors. DG Randy will provide you with information on the proposed re-districting that will be voted on at the State Convention in May. Lunch will follow about 12 noon and after that we will have 2 learning sessions; one on service projects and one on fundraisers. Three or four clubs will be sharing with the participants a specific project that is working for their clubs. Following these activities, we will have a catered dinner with entertainment. Our entertainment for the evening will be Patricia Tessenaer, a blind concert violinist that I met last summer during my volunteer week at Camp Dogwood. You will be impressed with her ability. The cost for the day is $35 for all three meals and the various learning sessions. Attached is a registration form that you can use to register for the convention as well as an agenda to better describe the activities I mentioned above.
