General Membership Meeting

Meeting was called to order by DG Randy Kirby.
Invocation was given by 2nd VDG Ken Smith.
Pledge was led by 1st VDG Vince Schimmoller.
District Secretary Cindy Kirby noted roll call was made, and we have quorum.
Lion Charles Smith was appointed Parliamentarian.
Report of Nominating Committee was given by PDG Jerry Thomas.
He presented Lion R. Lynn McCaskill for nomination for 2nd VDG.
PDG Gary Green made the motion to nominate and gave Lion Lynn’s credentials.
Lion Francis Dwight seconded the motion and praised his leadership.
Nominations were closed by motion and second and vote by secret ballot was held.
Nomination passed unanimously with 42 votes
PDG Jerry presented 2nd VDG Ken Smith for nomination for 1st VDG.
1st VDG Vince Schimmoller made the motion to nominate and discussed 2nd VDG Ken’s qualifications.
Lion James Kiser seconded the motion and spoke of 2nd VDG Ken’s service to the Lions and his community.
Nominations were closed by a motion by Lynn McCaskill and second by Tommy Brooks and agreement.
Vote was by secret ballot and the nomination passed unanimously with 47 votes.
PDG Jerry presented 1st VDG Vince Schimmoller for nomination for DG.
PDG Dan Beaudreaux made the motion to nominate and discussed 1st VDG Vince’s qualifications and previous service.
Lion Larry Wojack seconded the motion and spoke of 1st VDG’s great recruiting efforts as well as his efforts to maintain membership.
Nominations were closed by a motion by Lion Ron and seconded by 2nd VDG Ken Smith.
Vote was held by secret ballot and the nomination passed unanimously with 41 votes.
PDG Jerry Thomas presented 2nd VDG Elect Lynn McCaskill by unanimous vote, and 2nd VDG Elect Lynn McCaskill accepted the nomination.
PDG Jerry Thomas presented 1st VDG Elect Ken Smith by unanimous vote, and 1st DG Elect Ken accepted the nomination.
PDG Jerry Thomas presented DG Elect Vince Schimmoller by unanimous vote, and DG Elect Vince Schimmoller accepted the nomination.
DG Randy spoke and thanked PDG Jerry Thomas for his work on the nominating committee.
He noted that the information about the VIP bus has already been discussed in our Board meeting earlier today. PDG Brad Logston did add that he would like to see a VIP bus funded to bring VIPs to the VIP fishing tournament as well. He asked that this cost become a line item on the district budget.
Re-Districting Proposal was presented by DG Randy Kirby. The plan is to take the 8 districts currently in NC down to 5. The vote will be held at the state convention. He opened the floor to questions, and PDG Jerry Thomas noted he has a hard copy of the proposal for viewing. There were no comments or questions, but DG Randy stated that he would be available after the meeting for any other discussion.
PDG Dan Beaudreaux spoke to remind everyone that Knights for the Blind funds are available throughout the district and should be considered when large items are requested and additional funds are required beyond what the club can offer.
DG Randy adjourned the meeting for lunch.
