Clinton Lions Club – Waldron Street Richardson Jr.

Mr. Waldron Street Richardson Jr, 93, of 603 Woodrow St., died in Rex Hospital in Raleigh Thursday, March 6, 2014.
Born in 1920 in Craven County, Mr. Richardson was the son of Waldron and Bertha Richardson. After graduating from Jasper High School, he attended North Carolina State University, where he was a scholarship athlete in track. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Clinton for over fifty-seven years and held numerous leadership positions. Street gave back to the community in many ways, to include service through the Lions Club for over sixty years, as well as the Chamber of Commerce, Clinton / Sampson Economic Development, and Telephone Pioneers. As a loyal Lion, he formerly served as President and was awarded the Lion of the Year (3 times), as well as the Jack Stickley and Melvin Jones Fellow awards. He retired after 38 years of service from Carolina Telephone Company, holding in Clinton, NC the role of District Commercial Manager. After retirement, he continued in his volunteer interests, to include serving as Chairman of the Sampson County ABC Board. 
He is survived by his wife Peggy Nobles Richardson, sons Craig Richardson and wife Kay of Clinton, and Tim Richardson and wife Vicki of Fayetteville. He is also survived by two grandchildren, Lindsay Matthews & husband Jake and Taylor Richardson, and three great-grandchildren, Olivia Matthews, Ava Matthews and Savannah Matthews.
