District Governor Vince Schimmoller gave many awards and presentations during the evening but the last and most prestigious award was the International President’s Leadership Medal. In making the presentation, District Governor Schimmoller stated, “ She has been a member of the Lions Club for the past 10 years and has served as secretary for six of those years and served as president of the club in 2006 – 07. She has been very active on the district and state level with the Lions. She did not aspire to be District Governor but none the less she played a prominent role in the leadership of the district. She was very visible and active in promoting Lionism throughout the district by her role as Zone Chair, Volunteer Chair, Camp Dogwood Chair, as a member of the History Committee and a main helper at the VIP Fishing Tournament.

“Wherever there was a job that needed to be done, she was ready and willing to help or take a lead position. Some people talk about what Lions need to do but this person was one that let her actions show what it means to follow the motto, We Serve.

Schimmoller it was a pleasure to present the Presidential Leadership Award to Westerbeek.
